For years I have contributed stories and blogposts to my website www.rogerspark.com (presently inactive) and columns I submitted for the RPBG’s quarterly newsletter during my two stints in office. This website serves to archive these articles for me and for anyone who may be interested. Additionally - at my kids’ request - I use this website to display my latest hobby - acrylic painting. While at it, I include some interesting photos and a few cool articles, videos covering other Rogers Park happenings, projects and events that I worked on, extending back to the mid ‘90s.

Michael Glasser has a substantial relationship with the Rogers Park community.
Mike Glasser
Mike has resided in Rogers Park at various times during his adult life - starting in his last year in law school (where he threw parties that he would never allow his current tenants to throw - at least, unless they first invite him), to challenging years following his separation. He has fond memories of swimming at Jarvis beach with his kids, and coaching his son for the two years that he played baseball at Loyola Park. After a stint in the West Loop, Mike decided to move back into his building on Jarvis in 2010, and, several years later, a condo on Sherwin, where he presently resides.
Mike also devotes time to several Rogers Park non profits, serving as President of three local organizations: the Rogers Park Builders Group (he is now serving in his second term in office, the first from 1996 - 2002), the North Side Community Development Corporation, which focuses on affordable housing issues; and he is most proud of his stint as Founder and President of the Friends of Roger C. Sullivan High School a non profit that supports students attending Sullivan with athletic, artistic and academic needs. In the last three years, Friends of Sullivan has issued scholarships to twelve different graduates, assisting them in their transition to college.
Professionally, Mike invests in, owns and directly manages a portfolio of multifamily properties located in Rogers Park and in DuPage County. He manages them through his company Magellen Properties (“MAG” is his initials; Ellen, his mother’s name, as she, too. was in property management and she mentored Mike in the field. Mike is blessed to have an outstanding staff that assists him in day to day management, which offers him the time to devote to the above mentioned non profit groups, and, more recently, the Neighborhood Building Owners Alliance (NBOA), which advocates on behalf of small to mid sized housing providers in Chicago’s neighborhoods.
Mike and Baby Maisie
Mike is a proud father of three exceptional children: Amy, a healer, acupuncturist and artist, presently residing in Mexico; Mitch, formerly a baseball player who capped his career last summer competing for the Israeli National Team in the Tokyo Olympics, where he was named to the All Olympic Team; and Ella, a sensational 2nd grade teacher dazzling second grade youth in Northhampton, Massachusetts. His girlfriend Sheryl makes fabulous purses in her Rogers Park studio - under the business name, Harriet’s Hides. She is a mainstay at the annual Glenwood Avenue Artfair.
As of this writing, Mike is an expectant grandparent - with Baby Girl Glasser expected to be born within a week of this July 12 writing (Note: later on July 12, grandaughter Maisie born!).
Finally, Mike has discovered the art of painting! This is a new passion, and so far, ten pictures into it, his children actually think he has some talent!
